Regarding importing gmesh format

I am currently using Netgen 5.0.0 and I have to import a gmesh file into netgen. Although I know that Netgen 6.0.0 has python script for this purpose but is it possible somehow that I can only use python functions from Netgen 6.0.0 as standalone scripts in my current code to read gmesh meshes into Negen 5.0.0

It would be possible to write a script which converts gmsh meshes to ngsolve ones, but I think upgrading and using the new version is easier and faster What are your reasons for not upgrading? Netgen 5 does not support Python, so using the existing scripts would not be possible there...
